Strengthening of preparedness and capacity of Cambodian public health facilities to Covid-19

Duration: June 2020 - October 2020

Due to Covid-19 pandemic Cambodia's government's plan to control the disease cites insufficient capacity and inadequate medical facilities as one of the major risks to the country's growing prevalence. In addition to equipment and capacities, the practical implementation of the infection prevention and control system in healthcare facilities is also a problem, which poses a risk of secondary spread of the disease in healthcare facilities, both for patients and staff of these facilities.

Project Goal:

Improving material conditions at the Cambodian National Pediatric Hospital and other public health facilities in the province Kampong Chnnang, in terms of the availability of quality personal protective equipment and other specialized equipment in connection with the pandemic Covid-19

Improving the knowledge and skills of the staff of public health facilities in Kampong Chnnang province in matters of infection control and prevention, specifically with attention to Covid-19

Implementation and Results:

  • The project will deliver personal protective equipment and specialized clinical equipment to Cambodian National Paediatric Hospital and Public Healthcare Institutions in Kampong Chhnang province
  • The project will deliver training on IPC and guidelines for Covid-19 to key healthcare staff of Kampong Chhnang Hospital, Kampong Tralach Hospital, and Boribour Hospital
